May Moments

Hello friends! How is May treating you? For me May so far has been a busy and exciting month filled with great adventures and lovely moments to remember: celebrations, birthdays and a few road trips have filled our days. However, there has not been a lot of sewing going on. My sewing machine is feeling a little bit neglected. Also, I got new fabric with some birthday money and I can't wait to cut into it. But for now I'm savoring every special moment May is giving me.

Yesterday my husband and I spent a lovely day at the beach. The weather was great... very sunny and not foggy at all (here in California's Central Coast most days are cool and fog is a normal occurrence). We walked on the beach, had a yummy lunch watching the sea lions and harbor seals swim around and nap soaking up the warm sun. We also ventured more into town and explored the Secret Gardens of Old Monterey. Beautiful, secluded gardens filled with native plants that make you feel time has stood still since the days of Spanish California. It was very fun and relaxing... Today we are back at home and I had time to do some sewing. I hope to share with you some of my finishes soon.

Road Trip

Today I didn't get a lot of sewing done. Instead, my husband and I decided to take a road trip. And on our little journey we stopped at a farm stand/park  very popular in the area, but we had never visited before. I don't know why it is such a lovely place to spend the day. The place is filled with antique farm equipment. I felt as if we went back in time. The park even has a small pond with ducks swimming in it. It is such a charming place I think I want go back soon.

Road Trip: The Country Roads

Today my husband and I took a drive along the country roads on the outskirts of town. Everything looks so green and full of life. The cherry orchards are in full bloom and the farmers a beginning to plant their summer crops.

There is green everywhere. Many fields are growing pasture. Very soon, when the hay dries out,  we will get to see the the farmers making big packs of hay to store and feed their livestock or  to sell to other farmers.

Other meadows are covered in a blanket of yellow flowers. These fields of yellow blossoms expand as far as the eye can see.

 

What a wonderful display of color!
